Atlanta Falcons rookie running back Tevin Coleman is out with a fractured rib and there is no timetable for his return.

Head coach Dan Quinn said Monday that Coleman's return depends on his pain threshold. A source told ESPN that Coleman is expected to miss a couple of weeks.

Quinn said Coleman would sit out practices on Wednesday and Thursday.

Coleman was carted off the field against the New York Giants with a rib injury during the second quarter Sunday. He had 32 rushing yards on nine carries and a touchdown before the injury in Atlanta's 24-20 win.

Devonta Freeman ran for a touchdown and 25 yards on 12 carries after Coleman was knocked out of the game. Coleman had won the starting job going into the season ahead of second-year player Freeman.

The unbeaten Falcons play at Dallas this week against the Cowboys, also 2-0.
