The Miami Marlins placed slugger Giancarlo Stanton on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a left wrist hamate fracture.
Stanton first felt discomfort after striking out during the sixth inning of Friday's 7-1 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers and the injury got worse as the game progressed.

The outfielder will require surgery and is expected to be out 4-to-6 weeks.
Stanton leads the majors with 27 home runs and 67 RBI this season.
In a corresponding move, the Marlins recalled outfielder Cole Gillespie from Triple-A New Orleans.
