Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price dominated the 2015 NHL awards show on Wednesday, capping the evening by taking home the Hart Trophy as the league's Most Valuable Player.
"I'll be honest, I've run out of things to say," Price sheepishly admitted after winning his third award of the night. "Thanks to everybody who got me here. This award is given to an individual but it takes a team to support that individual."
Price, who had previously taken the Lindsay Award and the Vezina Trophy earlier on, led the NHL in wins (44), goals-against average (1.96) and save percentage (.933), becoming the first goaltender to pace the League in all three categories since Chicago's Ed Belfour in 1990-91.
The 27-year-old Vancouver native collected 139 first-place votes and 1.498 points, beating Alex Ovechkin handily for second place (888 points) and outclassing Islanders captain John Tavares (739) who finished third.
With his selection, Price matched former Habs netminder Jose Theodore who was the last to win both the Vezina and Hart Trophies back in 2002. Buffalo's Dominik Hasek also claimed the Vezina, Hart and Lindsay (then Pearson) Awards in back-to-back seasons, 1997 and '98.
Members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association submitted ballots for the Hart Trophy at the conclusion of the regular season, with the top three vote-getters designated as finalists.
