MLB Game Summary - Houston at Colorado

Carlos Correa hit a two-run home run and drove in three as the Houston Astros took an 8-4 win over the Colorado Rockies in the opener of a two-game set.

Chris Carter hit a two-run home run while Jake Marisnick and Preston Tucker each added a solo shot for the Astros, who have won four straight which includes a pair of home wins over Colorado before the series moved to Denver.

Brett Oberholtzer (2-1) allowed three runs on eight hits with five strikeouts over 6 1/3 frames.

Carlos Gonzalez hit a solo homer and drove in two, while Nolan Arenado and Nick Hundley each drove in a run for the Rockies, who have lost seven of their last eight games.

Kyle Kendrick (2-9) lost for a third time in four starts as he allowed four runs on seven hits with three walks in five innings.

Houston didn't need long to get on the board as George Springer led off the game with a single and Correa followed with his third homer of the season for a 2-0 lead.

In the second, Jason Castro walked with one out and moved to second on a Oberholtzer sac bunt before Springer singled him home for a 3-0 advantage.

Colorado cut into its deficit in the fourth with a pair of runs. DJ LeMahieu singled and Troy Tulowitzki followed with a double before a sac fly from Gonzalez and Arenado scored a run each to make it a 3-2 game.

Tucker's solo homer in the fifth, and a solo shot from Marisnick in the sixth along with an RBI double by Correa later in the frame made it a 6-2 contest.

The Rockies made it a 6-3 game in the seventh after Arenado doubled and Hundley singled him home.

Carter's two-run homer in the ninth and Gonzalez's solo shot in the home half accounted for the final score.
