Milwaukee Brewers Hall of Fame radio broadcaster Bob Uecker was kept overnight in a local hospital after being struck by a foul ball during batting practice prior to Monday's game against the Kansas City Royals.
The 81-year-old Uecker remained in the booth to call Milwaukee's 8-5 loss to the Royals, but left during the game to be examined by the Brewers' medical staff, which diagnosed him with a mild concussion.
Uecker was taken to Froedtert Hospital and remained there for precautionary reasons before being released on Tuesday, according to Brewers team spokesman Tyler Barnes. It is yet unknown as to whether Uecker will work Tuesday's game against the Royals.
The popular Uecker has served as the Brewers' radio announcer since 1971. The lifelong Milwaukee native was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame as the recipient of the Ford C. Frick Award in 2003.
