Nuggets bring aboard D'Alesandro

The Denver Nuggets have named Pete D'Alessandro their senior vice president of business and team operations.

D'Alessandro spent the past two seasons as the general manager of the Sacramento Kings. He spent three seasons in the front office of the Nuggets. From 2010-12 he was the advisor to the executive VP of basketball operations, and from 2012-13 he was the team's VP of basketball operations.

Prior to his time in Denver, D'Alessandro worked for the Golden State Warriors from 2004 to 2008 as director of basketball operations and assistant GM.

Nuggets president Josh Kroenke said D'Alessandro's experiences "have put him in a unique position to assist me in multiple areas ranging from league operations to team budgeting."

"I look forward to his assistance in creating additional synergy between our business and team operations to help take our organization to another level on and off the playing floor," Kroenke added.

In a related move, Kroenke announced Greg Sherman was being promoted to senior VP of business and team operations with the NHL's Colorado Avalanche.

The Nuggets fired head coach Brian Shaw in March. They had Melvin Hunt serve as the interim head coach the remainder of the season, but have yet to name someone to the permanent position.
