MLB suspends Twins' Torii Hunter 2 games

Major League Baseball has handed Minnesota Twins outfielder Torii Hunter a two-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for his meltdown in Wednesday's game against the Kansas City Royals.

Hunter made physical contact with umpire Mark Ripperger while arguing a called third strike during the eighth inning of Minnesota's 7-2 loss to the Royals.

Additionally, the 19-year veteran also tore off his jersey and threw it down the first-base line during the tantrum, in which Hunter also tossed his elbow pad, shin guard and batting gloves and had to be restrained by Twins manager Paul Molitor and crew chief Brian O'Nora.

Hunter will appeal the penalty, meaning he will be eligible to play Friday against the Texas Rangers as well as any other games up until his case his heard.
