Top-seeded former Wimbledon runner-up Agnieszka Radwanska highlighted Tuesday's first-round winners at the Nottingham Open tennis event, a grass-court Wimbledon tune-up.
The former top-5 star and current world No. 13 Radwanska rolled past Russian qualifier Alla Kudryavtseva 6-0, 6-3 at Nottingham Tennis Centre.
Up next for the Polish Radwanska will be American Christina McHale.
Second-seeded Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan dismissed former French Open champion Francesca Schiavone of Italy 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (8-6), while sixth-seeded Aussie Casey Dellacqua took care of Kazakhstan's Sesil Karatantcheva 7-5, 6-3.
Upsets came when Romanian Monica Niculescu dismissed third-seeded American Varvara Lepchenko 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 and British wild card Johanna Konta doused seventh-seeded Slovak Magdalena Rybarikova 6-3, 6-3.
Additional wins came for Americans McHale and qualifier Sachia Vickery, Belarusian qualifier Olga Govortsova, Puerto Rico's Monica Puig and Poland's Magda Linette.
This week's champion will collect $43,000.
