He also stroked an RBI single for the Yankees, who had lost the first two games of the four-game series.

Oakland hit 12 singles and will get another chance to win a home series for the first time this season on Sunday.

Chasen Shreve (2-1) picked up the win for New York after striking out all four batters he faced in relief of starter Nathan Eovaldi, who yielded three runs in 4 2/3 innings.

Justin Wilson, Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller combined to throw three shutout innings to seal the win, with Miller picking up his 15th save.

Coming off his first career shutout, Oakland starter Jesse Hahn (2-5) gave up four runs -- three earned -- on seven hits and a walk in six innings.

After the teams hit 17 consecutive singles to start the game, Beltran stroked his fourth homer of the season over the center field with one out in the sixth to make it 4-3.

He added an RBI hit in the eighth against reliever Arnold Leon after Mark Teixeira singled, stole a base for the first time since last July 8 and moved to third on Brian McCann's groundout.

Earlier, Chase Headley, Alex Rodriguez and McCann singled in the first inning, with Headley scoring on McCann's hit to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.

The A's also had three singles in the first, but Marcus Semien was thrown out at home plate by left fielder Ramon Flores to end the inning.

They hit four more singles in the third, scoring two runs to take a 2-1 lead. Billy Butler had a bases-loaded sacrifice fly and Josh Reddick added an RBI hit to knock in the runs.

Semien hit an RBI single for Oakland in the fourth inning and Headley had one in the fifth to draw the Yankees within 3-2.
