Astros put Springer on concussion DL

Houston Astros outfielder George Springer was placed on the 7-day concussion list during Wednesday's game against the Texas Rangers.

Springer went head-first into the right-field wall as he made an outstanding catch on Adrian Beltre during the seventh inning of Tuesday's 7-1 loss to the Rangers. He was removed from the game the following inning and did not play in Wednesday's series finale.

The 25-year-old has gotten off to a slow start at the plate this season, hitting just .192 with four homers and 12 RBI and striking out 35 times in 99 at-bats.

Outfielder Preston Tucker, who leads the Pacific Coast League in home runs and RBI, had his contract selected from Triple-A Fresno to take Springer's place on the active roster.

Tucker has amassed 10 homers and 32 RBI while batting .320 in 25 games for the Grizzlies.
