Mavericks' Parsons has knee procedure

Dallas Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons underwent successful surgery Friday to repair cartilage damage in his right knee, the team announced.

The Mavericks said in a statement that Parsons, who was able to play in only the opener of the club's five-game loss to the Houston Rockets during the opening round of the Western Conference playoffs, has yet to receive a timetable for recovery.

Parsons put up solid numbers in his first season in Dallas, with the former Rocket averaging 15.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and shooting 38 percent from 3- point range while making 66 starts. Knee problems caused him to miss the final six games of the regular season, however, and he was ruled out for the remainder of the Houston series after returning to score 10 points in Game 1.

The 26-year-old signed with the Mavericks in July after spending his first three NBA seasons with the rival Rockets.
