MJD signs one-day contract to retire with Jags

Maurice Jones-Drew signed a one-day contract and officially retired as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday.

Jones-Drew, who will be placed on the Jags' reserve/retired list, made his retirement announcement in early March via his Twitter page.

He spent last season with the Oakland Raiders, carrying the ball just 43 times for 96 yards in 12 games.

Jones-Drew played his first eight seasons with Jacksonville, totaling 1,804 rushing attempts for 8,071 yards and 68 touchdowns from 2006-13. He also had 2,873 yards and 11 touchdowns receiving with the Jaguars.

The three-time Pro Bowl selection won the NFL rushing title in 2011 with 1,606 yards. He was selected by the Jaguars in the second round of the 2006 draft and led the team in rushing six times during his eight seasons.
