The move will give Gilmore an $11 million salary in 2016, though the money is guaranteed for injury only up until the first day of the new league year.

Gilmore, the 10th overall pick of the 2012 draft, has been a key part of a Buffalo defense that permitted a league-low 16 passing touchdowns and allowed the third-fewest yards through the air last season.

The 24-year-old recorded a career-best three interceptions along with 46 tackles while starting 14 games in 2014. Over his three NFL seasons, Gilmore has compiled 142 tackles, six interceptions, four forced fumbles and 32 passes defensed over 41 games.
