Cincinnati Reds manager Bryan Price issued an apology Tuesday for Monday's profanity laced tirade toward media members covering the team.

Prior to Monday's 6-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers, Price took exception to beat reporters informing fans via social media that All-Star catcher Devin Mesoraco was not available for Sunday night's game against St. Louis.

During the five-plus minute rant that included 77 "F-bombs" and other choice words, Price made it clear he felt the media sharing information that was not released by the team put his club at a competitive disadvantage.

On Tuesday, he stood by his stance, but was sorry about his choice of words.

"In my pregame conversation with reporters yesterday, I used wholly inappropriate language to describe the media coverage of our team," Price said. "While I stand by the content of my message, I am sorry for the choice of words."

The Reds are off to a 6-7 start to the season.
