Russian-born Australian Daria Gavrilova, who just entered the Top 100 for the first time this week, stunned No. 2 seed and five-time Miami runner-up Maria Sharapova Thursday at the $5.3 million Miami Open.

The 21-year-old Gavrilova earned her first victory over a top-10 player with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 decision in Thursday's second-round action.

Gavrilova, who is playing in her first Miami Open, will face Kurumi Nara of Japan in the third round. Nara got past No. 25 seed Caroline Garcia 6-3, 7-6 (11-9).

Former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki did move on, routing American Madison Brengle 6-0, 6-1 in 56 minutes on the hardcourts at Crandon Park. The fourth- seeded 2014 U.S. Open runner-up Wozniacki will next face Estonia's Kaia Kanepi, who doused 28th-seeded American Varvara Lepchenko 6-2, 6-4.
