The Boston Bruins on Tuesday pronounced defenseman Dougie Hamilton out indefinitely due to a shoulder injury.
Hamilton did not play in Sunday's loss at Tampa Bay after leaving Saturday's contest against the Panthers after absorbing a hard hit from Florida forwards Scottie Upshall and Nick Bjugstad simultaneously.
The 21-year-old was enjoying a career year, picking up 10 goals and 32 assists over 72 games.
An injury to the blueline couldn't have come at a worse time. Boston is in danger of falling out of the playoff picture, having been supplanted by Ottawa for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
