Duke headlines entertaining South Region

Offense has been down across college basketball this season, but the South Region boasts some truly prolific offenses that will provide plenty of entertainment to an always-enjoyable NCAA Tournament.

Duke, the hottest team in the country not named Kentucky entering conference tournament week, deservedly earned a No. 1 seed and headlines a regional that sports seven of the top 25 scoring teams in the country.

Duke, Gonzaga, Iowa State, Davidson, Stephen F. Austin, Eastern Washington and North Florida all average at least 75.7 ppg.

The Blue Devils, led by freshmen stars Jahlil Okafor, Tyus Jones and Justise Winslow and a senior leader in Quinn Cook, rattled off 12 straight wins in the highly competitive ACC before bowing out to Notre Dame in the tourney semis.

Their first opponent will be the winner of a "First Four" matchup between North Florida and Robert Morris.

Gonzaga, the West Coast Conference regular season and tourney champs, was awarded a No. 2 seed and will face Summit League champion North Dakota State.

Iowa State secured a No. 3 seed by capturing the Big 12 Tournament title and will square off against Conference USA champ UAB. Fourth-seeded Georgetown will matchup against Big Sky champ Eastern Washington.
