Clubhouse Ride to regroup in Los Alamitos Mile

Chestnut 6-year-old Clubhouse Ride gets back into the starting gate Saturday in the $200,000 Los Alamitos Mile at Los Alamitos Race Course.

Trained by Craig Lewis, Clubhouse Ride is returning to the races just two weeks after being eased down the stretch in the Pacific Classic at Del Mar. The horse will start the Mile from the inside post in the nine-horse field with Joe Talamo again riding.

Clubhouse Ride, owned by Nikolas Petralia and Six-S Racing Stable, has had an up and down season highlighted by his victory in the Californian Stakes at Santa Anita on May 31. Coming into his lone 2014 win he was fifth in the Joe Hernandez Stakes followed by thirds in the San Carlos and Santana Mile.

The 6-year-old got fourth in the Charles Town Classic just two weeks prior to the Californian. Four weeks after his win, Clubhouse Ride was runner-up to Majestic Harbor in the Gold Cup at Santa Anita.

A veteran of 39 career starts, Clubhouse Ride has five wins, nine seconds and 10 thirds for $1,320,382.
