Alex Ovechkin had two goals and two assists to lead the Washington Capitals in a 5-3 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday.
Andre Burakovsky scored twice and Marcus Johansson also lit the lamp for the Capitals, who have won five of seven. Justin Peters stopped 30 shots in the win.
Andrew Cogliano had two goals and Corey Perry scored once for the Ducks, who have lost four of five. John Gibson allowed all five goals on 28 shots in the loss.
The Ducks scored just 66 seconds in as Francois Beauchemin's shot from the right point saw Cogliano put in the rebound for his seventh goal of the season.
It took all of 16 seconds for the Caps to answer, as Nicklas Backstrom won a faceoff at the right circle to Ovechkin, who kicked the puck for his skate to his stick and snapped it in.
Anaheim went back on top at 5:33 of the first as Devante Smith-Pelly sent a pass from the right circle to the slot where Perry snapped it into the left corner of the net for his 24th of the season.
Ovechkin, though, again tied the game at 10:26 of the first on the power play as he scored on a one-timer from his usual spot at the left circle for his league-leading 36th goal of the season.
The Caps took their first lead of the game at 3:27 of the second when Johansson was sprung for a breakaway and he buried a wrister into the left side of the net.
Washington took a two-goal lead at 9:04 of the second when Ovechkin took a feed and skated down the left wing, backhanding a pass to the right side where Burakovsky wristed it home.
The Ducks scored three minutes later on Cogliano's second of the game when he one-timed a pass down low for his eighth of the season.
Washington, though, put the game away halfway through the third when Ovechkin skated down the left wing and chipped a pass over to Burakovsky, who switched to the backhand and stuffed the puck in for his ninth of the season.
