Montreal Canadiens host Edmonton Oilers, hope to win fourth straight

The Montreal Canadiens hope to secure a fourth straight victory on Tuesday night as they play host to the Edmonton Oilers.

The Habs extended their run with a 2-1 overtime victory against the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday. Montreal won for the eight time in 10 games, but is still a point behind the Tampa Bay Lightning for first place in the Atlantic Division.

David Desharnais netted the winner versus the Flyers, following up his own shot with a rebound goal with 1:33 left in overtime. Tomas Plekanec had the game-tying goal late in regulation and Carey Price had 23 saves.

"We know (the Flyers) were in a good portion of their schedule, so it's not very easy to play a team which has won five of six," Desharnais admitted. "On the first goal and on that last play, if the puck is out in front, anything can happen, and for us it did tonight."

Price's win was his 209th for the Habs, moving him alone into fourth place on the franchise list behind only Ken Dryden (258), Patrick Roy (289) and Jacques Plante (314).

Price, though, is expected to get this game off, with Dustin Tokarski making his first start since Feb. 1. He has faced the Oilers only once before and took a loss despite giving up just two goals on 18 shots.

Edmonton is halfway through a six-game road trip, 1-2-0 on the swing following Tuesday's 3-2 setback to the New York Islanders.

The Oilers were without forwards Taylor Hall and Benoit Pouliot -- both placed on injured reserve earlier in the day due to lower-body injuries -- and goaltender Ben Scrivens, who tweaked a hamstring injury in a victory on Monday.

Ryan Hamilton was among those recalled from the minors on Tuesday and he scored his first career goal in the loss to the Islanders.

"It's definitely a good feeling," said Hamilton. "It happened so quick."

Anton Lander also lit the lamp and Viktor Fasth allowed three goals on 28 shots.

With Scrivens out indefinitely, Fasth is likely to face the Canadiens for the first time in his career.

The Oilers have won two straight and five of their past seven versus the Canadiens, including a 3-0 home victory on Oct. 27. Hall and Pouliot both scored and Scrivens made 29 saves.

Tokarski made the start in that game.

Edmonton has won three in a row at Montreal.
