The sheriff's department announced that Jenner was one of the parties involved in the collision around noon on Saturday.

One driver was pronounced dead at the scene and five others were transported to a local hospital for their injuries, the sheriff's department said. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Jenner, 65, became a national star after winning a gold medal in the decathlon at the 1976 Montreal Olympics.

More recently, Jenner gained widespread fame starring in the reality show "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" as the husband of the family's matriarch before their divorce last year.

On Monday, Buzzfeed.com reported that Jenner and ABC News were in the final stages of negotiating an interview in which Jenner would discuss becoming a woman.
