Wiggins, Payton named Rookies of the Month

Guards Andrew Wiggins of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Elfrid Payton of the Orlando Magic were named Wednesday as the Rookies of the Month for January.

Wiggins averaged 19.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 17 games during the month.

The No. 1 overall draft pick has won three consecutive Western Conference Rookie of the Month awards to start his career.

Payton averaged 10.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 6.9 assists in 15 games to earn the Eastern Conference award.
