BALTIMORE, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- Former Baltimore Ravens player Ray Rice settled with the football team over his back pay after being cut him from the team following his domestic abuse scandal.

The team cut Rice after he was caught on video punching his wife in a hotel elevator in Atlantic City, rendering her unconscious.

The team originally suspended him for four games, causing outrage from the public over the light punishment.

Rice argued the team owed him $3.5 million in back pay after "wrongful termination." The team and Rice were supposed to attend a hearing Thursday in Maryland but reportedly settled days earlier. The details of the negotiation were not disclosed.

The NFL has lifted his suspension so he may sign with any team, but no teams have pursued him.

Janay and her husband recently celebrated her 27th birthday.

"Ok first off I literally have the best husband in the world, he went above and beyond to make my birthday special. He ended the day with a surprise dinner party with my family & friends," she wrote on an Instagram post.
