NBC Sports pulled off a daily double by winning two Media Eclipse Awards for 2014.
NBC Sports received Media Eclipse Awards for Television - Live Racing Programming and Television - Features. The Blood-Horse won the 2014 Media Eclipse Award in the Audio/Multi-Media Internet category.
The broadcast of the 2014 Breeders' Cup Classic on Nov. 1 gave NBC Sports its 11th Media Eclipse Award in the Live Television category. The network won in the Features category for "California Chrome: The Unlikely Champion," which aired on NBCSN on June 5.
The Blood-Horse won in the Audio/Multi-Media Internet category for "Waiting, and Waiting, for Crowning Glory: A generation repeatedly denied a Triple Crown winner looks to California Chrome." The in depth examination of the difficulties of winning thoroughbred racing's Triple Crown appeared on bloodhorse.com on May 28.
The media awards are presented by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA), Daily Racing Form and the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters (NTWAB) for outstanding achievement in media coverage of thoroughbred racing. Trophies will be presented to the Award winners at the 44th annual Eclipse Awards on Saturday, Jan, 17 at Gulfstream Park Racetrack and Casino in Hallandale Beach, Florida.
