Blue Jays RHP Stroman suspended 6 games

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman was suspended six games by Major League Baseball on Wednesday and fined an undisclosed amount for throwing at Baltimore Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph.

MLB said Stroman was suspended "for intentionally throwing a pitch in the head area" of Joseph during a game Monday night. He is appealing the suspension and will remain active until that process is over.

Both benches were warned after the right-hander threw the pitch behind Joseph in the sixth inning Monday night, apparently in retaliation for the Orioles catcher nicking Jose Reyes' hand with his cleat as Reyes slid into home plate to score a run.

Stroman, a rookie, is 10-6 with a 3.80 ERA in 24 games this season, including 19 starts,
