Titans sign LB Anderson, put Brown on IR

The Tennessee Titans agreed to terms on a contract with veteran linebacker James Anderson Tuesday while formally placing linebacker Zach Brown on injured reserve.

Brown, a 27-game starter for Tennessee over his first two NFL seasons who compiled 184 tackles, 9 1/2 sacks and four interceptions during that span, tore his pectoral muscle in the team's 26-10 season-opening win at Kansas City.

Anderson, an eight-year pro, started all 16 games for the Chicago Bears in 2013 and recorded 102 tackles and four sacks. The 30-year-old spent his first seven seasons with the Carolina Panthers, totaling a then-franchise record 145 tackles in 2011 and also leading the team in stops the previous year.

For his career, Anderson has played in 110 games with 69 starts and logged 556 tackles, 12 sacks, eight fumble recoveries and three interceptions.

Anderson signed with New England in June but was released by the Patriots during the preseason.
