BALTIMORE, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- The NFL reportedly never contacted the casino where Ray Rice was accused of beating his fiancee to obtain the video of the exchange in the elevator.
TMZ reports no one asked the Revel Hotel and Casino for its security video from the elevator where Ray Rice was shown punching his fiancee, Janay, so hard he knocked her out and then dragged her from the elevator.
Commissioner Roger Goodell only suspended Rice for two games after video showed him dragging his fiancee out of the elevator, but did not show the assault. The decision caused an outcry over the apparent apathy in the league regarding domestic violence.
The hotel said it copied the tape for the police and Rice's lawyer, but the NFL never requested a copy.
The Baltimore Ravens terminated Rice's contract Monday and the NFL suspended him indefinitely after the second video emerged showing the assault.
