The game will resume at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday with one out and no runners on base for the Pirates. The second game of the three-game series will follow.

The Cubs, who are coming off a three-game sweep of playoff-hopeful Milwaukee, will have another chance to play spoiler this weekend against the Pirates.

They were hit with a couple of injuries on Friday. Catcher Welington Castillo was scratched from the game with lower-back tightness and rookie left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada left in the fourth inning with mild cramping in his left calf.

Pittsburgh took an early lead after Josh Harrison led off the game with a ground-rule double and scored from second base on Pirates third baseman Luis Valbuena's errant throw to first base on Russell Martin's grounder.

Arismendy Alcantara hit a leadoff double in the third for Chicago and scored later with a good slide on Jorge Soler's sacrifice fly to shallow right field. Valbuena, who also doubled in the inning, scored on Harrison's throwing error from third, giving the Cubs a 2-1 lead.

In the top of the fourth, Neil Walker drew a one-out walk and scored when Jose Tabata doubled over Alcantara's head in center field. Wada came out and Carlos Villanueva surrendered an RBI double to Harrison, which gave the Pirates a 3-2 lead.

Wada was charged with all three runs -- two earned -- on three hits and a walk in his 3 1/3 innings.

After sitting through the first rain delay in the top of the fifth, the Cubs tied the score in the bottom of the inning when Chris Valaika followed walks to Valbuena and Chris Coghlan with an RBI single that chased Pirates starter Vance Worley, who gave up five hits and four walks and struck out six.

Game Notes

In the fifth inning, the wind picked up and the skies darkened, forcing the first delay before it even started raining ... Harrison has three hits in the game ... Chicago recalled third baseman Mike Olt from Triple-A Iowa. He grounded out as a pinch-hitter to end the fifth inning.
