Angels designate LeBlanc for assignment

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim designated pitcher Wade LeBlanc for assignment on Tuesday.

The move comes less than 24 hours after LeBlanc was ineffective in his start against the Marlins, allowing six runs and seven hits with three walks in a 7-1 loss.

LeBlanc was pressed into service due to the season-ending knee injury to Garrett Richards, and the Angels have yet to decide who will take LeBlanc's turn in the rotation on Saturday against Oakland.

To fill the roster spot, the Halos selected the contract of pitcher Yoslan Herrera from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Herrera, a 33-year-old right-hander and native of Cuba, has gone 4-4 with a 2.52 earned run average over 41 appearances with LA's primary farm club. He lost his lone major-league decision this season, and pitched to a 4.50 ERA in six games with the Angels.
