MASON, Ohio, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Roger Federer claimed his sixth Western & Southern Open title Sunday after beating David Ferrer 6-3, 1-6, 6-2.

"I've played some good tennis here over the years, so it's really nice to come back and win it again," Federer said of his win. "The whole tournament was really good for me."

The 33-year-old player said he considered not playing the tournament because he felt like he "had to try to back up a tough week from last week, I didn't think it was possible."

"But in practice I felt like I was recovering quickly so I gave it to a go. I played with less pressure," he said.

Sunday's win marks the Swiss tennis star's first Masters title since 2012 and his 80th tournament title. Federer has beaten the Spanish player in all 16 of their matches.
