Silva signs Manchester City extension

David Silva has signed a new five- year contract with Manchester City to remain with the reigning Premier League champions until 2019, it was announced Tuesday.

Silva joined City from Valencia in 2010 and has guided the Citizens to two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the Capital One Cup in his four years in Manchester.

The 28-year-old had three years remaining on his previous contract, which was signed in 2012, but City has secured the midfielder's services until he turns 33.
