Ramseys to hold back Admiral Kitten from Million

Defending winner Real Solution will be the lone horse owned by Ken and Sarah Ramsey in this month's Arlington Million.

Ken Ramsey said that Arlington Handicap runner-up Admiral Kitten will not start in the 1 1/4-mile Million on Saturday, Aug. 16.

"I don't want to run them against each other," Ramsey explained. "In my humble opinion Real Solution is the better of the two and we want to put Admiral Kitten in a spot where he can win. We are sending him up to Canada to the Sky Classic (1 1/4 miles) at Woodbine. I had originally intended to run them against each other (in the Million). If I thought he could go the distance in the American St. Leger, I would run him there - but I don't think he can get it."

Admiral Kitten won last year's Secretariat Stakes at Arlington Park with a string of second-place results as a 3-year-old. The 4-year-old colt, trained by Mike Maker, came in second last year in the American Turf Stakes, Arlington Classic, American Derby, Jamaica Handicap and the final Hollywood Derby.

Closing in on $1 million, Admiral Kitten has won four of 15 lifetime starts with seven seconds for $784,714.

Real Solution, trained by Chad Brown, will be coming into the Arlington Million with a victory in the Manhattan Stakes at Belmont Park. The 5-year-old horse, who won last year's Million via disqualification, has banked $1,358,175 with five wins in 13 career starts.
