According to the Indianapolis Star, Oden was taken into custody by Lawrence, Indiana police early Thursday morning. The paper said Oden was cooperative with officers.

Oden reportedly told police he had dated the 24-year-old victim for two years and the two broke up about two months ago.

Now 26, Oden was a high school star in the Indianapolis suburb and spent one year at Ohio State. He led the Buckeyes to the national championship game as a freshman, then entered the NBA Draft.

After being selected with the top overall pick by Portland, Oden missed his entire rookie season of 2007-08 with a knee injury and played two seasons with the Trail Blazers before sitting out three years with knee problems.

Oden returned to the NBA this past season with Miami and played 23 games for the Heat in 2013-14. He averaged 2.9 points and 2.3 rebounds.
