Rodriguez joined Monaco from FC Porto last summer but had been strongly linked to Real Madrid following his exploits at the World Cup with Colombia, which saw him claim the Golden Boot with six goals as well as the award for the best goal in the tournament.

The youngster notched nine goals and added 12 assists for Monaco last season, helping the club finish second in its first season back in Ligue 1.
