Summer Front takes first look at Del Mar in Eddie Read

Well traveled turf runner Summer Front will make his Del Mar Racetrack debut Sunday in the $300,000 Eddie Read Stakes over 1 1/8 miles on the Jimmy Durante turf course.

Trained by Christophe Clement for Waterford Stable, Summer Front will start from post 2 in the six-horse field with Joe Bravo again riding. Bravo, Monmouth Park's leading rider, will be coming from Woodbine in Canada where he will ride Saturday for Clement.

Summer Front is coming off consecutive second-place finishes in the Fort Marcy Stakes at Belmont Park on May 3 and five weeks ago in Santa Anita's Shoemaker Mile.

He began the year by winning Gulfstream Park's Fort Lauderdale Stakes on Jan. 11 but was a disappointing seventh as the 2-1 favorite in the Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap on Feb. 9.

The 5-year-old has earned $814,140 in 19 career starts with eight wins, four seconds and three thirds.
