Alabama and USC have scheduled their first meeting since the Crimson Tide's win in the 1985 Aloha Bowl.
The national powerhouses will play in the Cowboys Classic at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Sept. 3, 2016, the schools announced Wednesday.

The game will mark the season-opener for both teams.
USC's originally-scheduled game for that date, a home meeting with New Mexico, was moved to Sept. 19, 2020.
Alabama holds a 5-2 lead in the all-time series, including its 24-3 win in the 1985 Aloha Bowl. The 2016 game will mark the first time the programs have met in the regular season since 1978.
