LOS ANGELES, July 10 (UPI) -- Donald Sterling said he will not sell the LA Clippers after calling his wife, Shelly Sterling, a "pig" as he took the stand on the third day of his probate trial.
Shelly approached Sterling in the courtroom as he made his way to testify, reportedly to embrace him.
"Get away from me, you pig," he shouted across the room as he recoiled from her. He was not removed from the courtroom, but the judge did call his remark "somewhat disturbing."
After taking the stand, the 80-year-old was defiant and pushed back against lawyers' questions -- even his own.
"Make no mistake ... I will never, ever sell this team and until I die I will be suing the NBA for this terrible violation under antitrust," said Sterling.
The Clippers are in a trust, which is in Shelly's control after she declared her husband mentally incompetent. She is trying to sell the Clippers to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer for $2 billion. Sterling bought the team in 1981 for $12.5 million.
