Mills (1-0) worked 6 1/3 innings, giving up nine hits and three runs while fanning four. Sean Doolittle struck out the side in the ninth to earn his 11th save.

Lucas Duda hit a late three-run shot and Chris Young added a two-run homer for the Mets, whose three-game win streak came to an end.

Zack Wheeler (3-8) recorded only six outs in the loss, having allowed six runs on as many hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
