RIO DE JANEIRO, June 24 (UPI) -- Mother Nature had a scary surprise in store from members of Spain's defeated World Cup team, who were almost home when a bolt of lightening struck their plane.
A rep for Iberia airlines said Flight 2907, carrying most Spain's entire soccer team, was struck by lightening before landing at Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas airport on Tuesday.
Luckily, no one was injured and the plane didn't sustain any damage.
Spain's national team had just returned from a devastating performance at the World Cup in Brazil, where they lost to both Holland and Chile. They ended their World Cup year with a 3-0 win against Australia.
