Chase Whitley (3-0) gave up two runs on five hits over five innings for the Yankees, who have won the first two contests of this three-game series.
New York's 15-game home winning streak over the Blue Jays is the longest by one team over another since Toronto topped Baltimore 16 straight times at Rogers Centre from 2009-11.
Toronto starter Mark Buehrle watched on Tuesday as New York rookie sensation Masahiro Tanaka took over the major league lead in victories. Buehrle tried to join Tanaka in the 11-win club on Wednesday, but was unsuccessful.
Buehrle (10-4) lost his third straight start after allowing three runs -- two earned -- on six hits over six innings. The left-hander has now lost nine consecutive decisions against the Yankees dating back to 2004.
