Chicago tops Miami in rubber match

Nate Schierholtz hit a three-run homer to cap a four-run sixth inning, and Chicago topped Miami, 6-1, in Wednesday's rubber match of a three-game series.

Nate Schierholtz hit a three-run homer to cap a four-run sixth inning, and Chicago topped Miami, 6-1, in Wednesday's rubber match of a three-game series.

Starlin Castro finished 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored for the Cubs, who have won four of six overall. Anthony Rizzo also collected three hits and Darwin Barney drove in a run.

Jake Arrieta (3-1) yielded five hits and one run with a season-high 11 strikeouts over seven strong innings.

Giancarlo Stanton homered but left with a wrist injury in the eighth inning for the Marlins, who have dropped five of seven.

Nathan Eovaldi (4-3) was tagged in the loss for five runs on nine hits in six- plus frames.
