When it comes to Cleveland, Jered Weaver rocks.
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim starter will make his 10th start at the Indians' Progressive Field home on Monday when the teams open up a four-game series.
Weaver has won all six decisions across nine previous outings in Cleveland while posting a microscopic 1.64 earned run average. His most recent start there came on Aug. 9 of last season and saw him allow two runs in seven innings of a 5-2 triumph.
In 36 previous innings there, he'd allowed one run.
"I have no idea," Weaver said. "I'm not a numbers' guy. I feel comfortable in this park."
The Indians, meanwhile, meet their nemesis in the midst of a nine-game home win streak, and their 21-11 record at home is the best in the major leagues.
Cleveland returns home for seven games after finishing a road trip with two straight wins in Boston. Nick Swisher had Sunday's decisive blow, a home run in the 11th inning.
"This year's been kind of crazy for me, personally, just to come up with a hit like that to help this team win a ballgame," he said. ''I was so stoked, man. I wanted to smile all the way around the bases."
The Angels beat the Indians in three straight games in Anaheim in late April, including one that was pitched by Weaver. He's opposed this time by Cleveland's Trevor Bauer, who's a native of Southern California but has never faced the Angels.
Bauer has made six career starts at Progressive Field, where he's 2-2 with a 2.15 ERA.
On Sunday in Atlanta, Tommy La Stella hit a two-run double to cap a four-run sixth inning that sent the Braves past the Angels, 7-3, in the rubber match of a three-game interleague set.
Mike Trout and Erick Aybar both hit solo homers for the Angels. Hector Santiago (0-7) remained winless on the year despite holding the Braves off the board over the first five frames. The sixth proved costly, however, as he was pulled with one out and wound up being charged with four runs.
In Boston, Swisher's 11th-inning home run led the Indians to a 3-2 victory over the Red Sox in the final installment of a four-game set.
Swisher clubbed a leadoff homer to right off Junichi Tazawa (1-1) during the 11th and Michael Brantley homered in the first for the Indians.
Cody Allen (3-1) earned the win after tossing a scoreless 10th and 11th with three strikeouts. Starter Corey Kluber was lifted after 5 1/3 innings after allowing two runs on five with four walks and four strikeouts.
