STAMFORD, Conn., June 14 (UPI) -- WWE legend Pat Patterson came out as gay at age 73 during the filming of reality television show WWE Legends' House.
The former wrestler got teary-eyed as he revealed the news during dinner with his cast mates.
Patterson revealed he had a partner of 40 years of recently died from a heart attack.
"From where I come from, I had nothing, no family, no money, and I ended up [working] with Vince [McMahon]...to me, that was the biggest achievement of my life. But there's more to that," Patterson said. "Sitting here tonight, I'm going to say something I would never want to say. For once in my life I'm going to be me. I survived all this being gay."
The announcement brought some of his fellow cast mates to tears.
"We love you, Pat. We've always loved you," one said.
"I gave my life to the business and I don't regret nothing. For the rest of my life I want to be happy," Patterson said.
The revelation came during the Season 1 finale of WWE Legends' House, which aired Thursday on the WWE Network.
