CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 9 (UPI) -- Elementary school students in Charlotte, N.C., weren't even born when Michael Jordan played basketball, but that doesn't mean they don't recognize a legend.

The retired NBA star-turned-Charlotte Hornets owner visited students at Hornets Nest Elementary on Monday as part of the team's "Swarm to Serve" initiative. The kids went wild when Jordan entered the room.

The Hornets posted video of Jordan's visit and the kids' delighted reaction to the team's Instagram feed.

"A class picture turns into an unexpected surprise as Hornets Chairman Michael Jordan visiting Hornets Nest Elementary students in their classrooms #SwarmToServe," the video was captioned.

One lucky kindergartner even got to ask about Space Jam, the beloved 1996 film starring Jordan as himself.
