Eagles reach deal with first-round pick Smith

The Philadelphia Eagles signed outside linebacker Marcus Smith, the team's first-round selection in the 2014 NFL Draft, to a four-year contract Monday.

Smith, the 26th overall choice in last month's draft, was named the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2013 after registering 14 1/2 sacks and 42 tackles, including 18 1/2 for loss, as a senior at Louisville.

The versatile pass rusher was one of two Cardinals defenders taken in the first round, with safety Calvin Pryor picked 18th overall by the New York Jets.

Philadelphia now has its entire 2014 draft class under contract.
