Rapids' Brown earns Player of the Week honor

Colorado Rapids forward Deshorn Brown was named the Player of the Week on Monday for Week 13 of the 2014 Major League Soccer season.

Brown netted a first-half brace on Sunday in the Rapids' 3-0 destruction of the Houston Dynamo at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Brown's first goal came only five minutes into the match when a perfectly placed cross from defender Marvell Wynne found Brown in the middle of the box. Brown connected with the cross and headed the ball past the diving Dynamo goalkeeper Tally Hall.

In the 35th minute, Brown completed the brace when Dillon Powers found Brown making a run behind the Dynamo defense. Brown ran onto the pass in the right corner of the box, and one-timed a shot into the lower left corner.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from the North America Soccer Reporters (NASR). The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
