Indians recall Bauer for Tuesday start

The Cleveland Indians have recalled pitcher Trevor Bauer from Triple-A Columbus and named him the starter for Tuesday's game against the Detroit Tigers.

The Indians also activated designated hitter Jason Giambi from the 15-day disabled list, recalled infielder Justin Sellers from Columbus and optioned infielders Jesus Aguilar and Jose Ramirez, and pitcher T.J. House to Columbus.

Bauer made a spot start for the Tribe on April 9 against the Padres and took the loss despite giving up just two runs -- one earned -- on four hits with eight strikeouts over six innings.

Two days later, the 23-year-old right-hander was optioned to Columbus, where he's gone 4-1 with a 2.15 earned run average over seven starts this season.

Giambi started the season on the DL due to a non-displaced rib fracture he sustained in spring training and appeared in just four games before heading back to the DL on May 4 with a strained right calf.

The 20-year veteran hasn't registered a hit in 11 plate appearances this season.

Cleveland acquired Sellers from the Los Angeles Dodgers for cash considerations on March 2. The 28-year-old infielder has batted .227 with seven doubles and 15 RBI over 37 games with Columbus this season.

Aguilar recorded his first Major League hit and knocked in two runs in the Tribe's 5-4 win over the Tigers Monday, while Ramirez went just 2-for-25 with one RBI over 11 games with Cleveland this season.

House made his big league debut on May 17 and spun a scoreless inning in relief.
