Dynamic Impact gets workout Sunday for Preakness

Illinois Derby winner Dynamic Impact got his final Preakness Stakes workout done Sunday after having Saturday's scheduled work postponed.

Trained by Mark Casse, Dynamic Impact worked five furlongs at Churchill Downs in 1:01 3/5 over a good main track.

The 3-year-old's Saturday workout was postponed when Churchill Downs received two inches of rain late Friday. The colt galloped 1 1/2 miles instead on Saturday with assistant trainer Norman Casse watching.

"I was hoping they would open the track up, but they didn't and I totally understand why. They made the right call with all the rain," Casse said of the sealed track. "A lot of my horses didn't go out and I am happy he at least got to gallop."

It looks like nine 3-year-olds will challenge Kentucky Derby champ California Chrome in the Preakness on Saturday at Pimlico. The probable challengers include Tampa Bay Derby winner Ring Weekend, Blue Grass Stakes third-place finisher Pablo Del Monte, Kid Cruz, Arkansas Derby runner-up Ride On Curlin, Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Ria Antonia, Dynamic Impact, Derby Trial runner-up Bayern, Wood Memorial third-place horse Social Inclusion and General a Rod, third in the Florida Derby.
