With two weeks remaining in the domestic campaign, Sochaux will aim to escape the bottom three on Saturday with a victory over Rennes at the Stade de la Route de Lorient.
After spending most of the season in the relegation zone, the club has put together a nice run of form at just the perfect time, heading into Saturday's clash riding a six-match unbeaten streak, which pulled the club within one point of safety.
Possibly the most important result of the season for Sochaux came on April 27 when the club managed to secure a point in a 1-1 draw against league champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Les Parisiens opened the scoring in the 24th minute through Edinson Cavani, but the lead failed to hold as an own goal from Thiago Silva in the 56th minute handed a point to the home side.
Building off that positive result, Sochaux claimed another important three points the following week with a 2-0 victory over Nice at Stade Auguste Bonal.
The home side found the opening goal on the stroke of halftime when the ball deflected off Nemanja Pejcinovic and into the net for an own goal.
The hosts then doubled their advantage in the 56th minute when Jordan Ayew, on loan from Marseille, netted his fourth goal for Sochaux to hand them all three points.
A win for Sochaux will take the club out of the relegation zone with 40 points. Rennes, meanwhile, is six points clear of the bottom three with 43 points.
Also in Ligue 1 on Saturday, PSG will hope to put an end to a two-match winless run when the club faces Lille at the Grand Stade Lille Metropole.
PSG claimed its second consecutive Ligue 1 title on Wednesday, despite falling to Rennes, 2-1, but Laurent Blanc's club will still want to end the season on a positive note, while Lille will be hoping for a victory to clinch the final Champions League spot.
Second-place Monaco will hope to continue its fine run of form against Valenciennes at the Stade Hainaut. The principality club enters Saturday riding a five-match unbeaten streak.
Already-relegated Ajaccio hosts Reims at the Stade Francois-Coty, Bordeaux welcomes Marseille to the Stade Chaban-Delmas, Evan battles Nice, Guingamp hosts Toulouse.
Lyon welcomes Lorient to the Stade de Gerland, Montpellier hosts Bastia, while St Etienne travels to the Stade de la Beaujoire to battle Nantes hoping for a victory to keep its Champions League hopes alive.
