FLOURTOWN, Pa., May 5 (UPI) -- Carly Monzo, a senior at Mount Saint Joseph Academy in Flourtown, Pa., made a video asking Shaun White, 27, to her high school prom. But she didn't hear back from her ginger hero -- until prom night.
Monzo made the video with a GoPro camera, one of White's sponsors, and with the help of her teachers and fellow students.
When Monzo didn't hear back from the two-time Olympic gold medalist, she found another date. White, who never went to his own prom, decided to surprise her at the event last Friday.

"At prom they called me up,” Monzo told CBS Philadelphia. “They were like, 'Carly Monzo, where’s Carly Monzo?' And I was like 'Oh my goodness, what did I do?' I literally thought I was in trouble."

"It was crazy," she added. "On the stage that was there -- they just dropped the curtains. I turned around. I was speechless."
White and his band, The Bad Things, performed for the crowd, before hitting the dance floor with Monzo and her friends.

"I got up on the stage after the song was over and I was like, 'Hiiiii,’” Monzo told CSN Philly. "He said hi back. It was all kind of a blur after that."
When they slow-danced to the Etta James classic, "At Last," White conceded to appeals from the crowd and gave Monzo a friendly kiss on the cheek.
